10 years of FRFOC Camper and Staff Testimonials
This past summer I attended the Front Range Football officials camp in Ft. Collins, along with Matt Pollock from Casper, Scott James from Wheatland, and Scott Lee from Green River. It was a great learning experience from the college football officials serving as clinicians, with classroom discussions and on-field scrimmages. This year the camp will be held at the CSU facility – with an expanded on-field opportunity as they are having a big team camp to officiate. One of the best sessions we had was reviewing film of the scrimmages we officiated. That review was done by a college officials’ evaluator. He broke down plays from the view of evaluating us as officials. If you think you know what you are doing – think again! We had time to ask specific questions for our position from all clinicians. Remember, these officials have specific mechanics and are evaluated after every contest on their performance. I’m writing to encourage you to attend this camp, either individually or as a crew. If you are dedicated to becoming a better football official and to helping take Wyoming football officiating to a new level, please put June 8, 9 and 10 on your calendar for next year.

This was my first camp I attended, and it was awesome. We're into the third week of the 2016 season here in South Dakota. what I learned from the guys at the camp gave me the knowledge and confidence to be a better Referee. I'm glad I attended and would like to express my gratitude to the staff of the camp, again thank you.

Great camp. The study questions weeks prior to the clinic allowed us to mesh as a crew. The clinicians were very approachable and gave meaningful feedback. I left with a better understanding of the mechanics and philosophies of my position. This was a great way to start my summer.

I had a great time! I have never been to an officiating camp, and from what I experienced and what other campers told me, it doesn't get any better than the FRFOC. The one-on-one feedback I got from clinicians throughout the camp was spot-on, and the best part was that I was able to apply some of the feedback into the camp scrimmages. I feel that I am a better official after attending this camp. Why? Because as a camper you "reap what you sow", and if you are open to constructive criticism from the clinicians, you will only get better. I really appreciated the effort that the clinicians put forth interacting with campers, and it was easy to see that the clinicians were there for the campers, so that we all become better officials. I will definitely come back for this camp and will strongly recommend this camp for any high school football official, regardless of his/her officiating history.

What an amazing camp! I've been to several camps over the years and none of them even come close to this one! The instructors are top notch, upper-level officials and trainers. Each facet of the camp is very well thought out with the learner in mind and the campers are treated with respect and dignity. This is an opportunity that I plan to call of my officiating colleagues and recommend to them. It really has changed the way that I officiate for the better.

I had the most rewarding experience at the Front Range Football Officials Camp. I have never attended a camp that was this well done. Working with the clinicians for my position was great. I learned so much that will help me in my officiating career and make me better. The instruction was personal and was what I needed to hear and learn. The use of video was a welcome part of the camp. It's true, the film never lies, and I saw a lot that I can improve on. This camp will make any official better if they will work on what is taught and be honest with themselves. Thank you for all the effort you guys put into this camp. The socials were great and gave us a chance to rub shoulders with those who have the same passion for officiating. The facilities were great as well. Count me in as someone who will definitely be attending your camp again.

Thanks for a great camp! Anyone wanting to improve officiating skills needs to attend this camp. Clinicians were excellent, and always took time to answer questions, and provide feedback. I feel I improved my skills more than I can measure. A new official will set a true foundation for their position. An experienced official will greatly improve his ability to call games. You guys put a lot of effort into setting up this camp, and it shows.

Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this great camp! I didn't know what to expect, as this was the first 5-man instructional camp I had attended. The snaps were as good or better than most snaps you'll see at any of the camps I have previously attended. Facilities are close, the setup for learning and field training was excellent. The clinician to camper ratio was very good. The shock to me when I returned home was learning of the camp cost... from a bang for the buck standpoint, I don't know that it gets any better. If you are a high school official wanting to improve, up your game to improve your opportunities in a 5-man setting, or even just starting out and wanting to develop a solid foundation of mechanics, skills, etc. to set yourself up for a successful officiating career, this is the place.

Having gone to many camps over the years, I'd definitely recommend this FRFOC Camp. It’s very well run, organized and 2-to-1 and sometimes 1-to-1 staff to camper ratio! Great speakers, get to see a lot of snaps, critiques on the field and in film sessions etc. The food served was the best I've ever had at a camp! Each crew had a sponsor who was there to answer any questions! I'd highly recommend this camp who wants to get better!

This was the 4th year I have attended this camp, and every year just keeps getting better. The instructors have helped me to become a solid official. I recommend this camp to anyone who wants to become a better official, be it 1 year in or 15 years in. I am looking forward to next year’s camp!

I highly recommend the Front Range camp to high school football officials. It is well organized and integrated with the several high school scrimmages at Colorado State. Officials are broken up by position - Back Judges had the privilege of learning from experienced officials from the Pac 12, Big 12, Big Sky, and other conferences. The instructors were eager to help and share their point of view. Officials also get plenty of snaps and on field experience; coupled with film review, this practical experience is quite impactful. This camp is a great value and well worth the money and time; regardless of your experience level, you will improve.

An amazing experience! We were kept busy with scrimmages, breakout sessions, film review, master classes, one-on-one insight and feedback, and as you can plainly see in the photos, no shortage of FOOD. The clinicians are top notch - every single instructor was available and willing to provide advice at what seemed like any hour of the day. If you want to get better (GB) this is the place for you!

Just an outstanding experience, hearing and learning from the excellent clinician's, who never once hesitated in taking the time to share and provide feedback and advice in an enthusiastic manner! Taking back well in excess of a dozen tips and suggestions to work on and get better at, the value for the amount spent was really well worth it, thank you!

I've been to this camp three times now. The best part of the camp is they meet you where you are. If you are a beginner, they'll walk you through each step. If you are more advanced, they'll discuss philosophy to make you think. All the while, doing it with a mix of fun and seriousness. A great camp to get better at any stage.

This was the best clinic I have ever had the pleasure of attending. Alan, John, Sean and the entire staff had this camp running like a well-oiled machine. There was never a mystery as to what we were doing and what the staff was trying to teach us during any phase. I would highly recommend this camp to any high school official!

I've gone to this camp three years in a row and I learn so much more every time. I've gone from a run-of-the-mill high school official to someone who has done a state championship game -- and a big part of it is taking away what I've learned at this camp. The staff is great and hands-on. The instructors are top notch. You will learn and get better here. No question is dumb or obvious. Everyone is willing and eager to make you better. You will get many on-field snaps with at-the-moment instruction. This is the best high school camp in the West and probably in the country.

Great camp, I learned a lot from the staff who were more than happy to answer all the questions you might have. We were able to see a bunch of snaps and immediately put into practice what was taught in the classroom. Looking forward to attending next year.

"I attended this camp as an 11-year HS veteran, and still learned a great deal. You cannot beat the locality, or cost for the exposure, advice, and critiques given by both DI and DII officials. It was nice getting the "inside scoop" on the brotherhood of officials at the next level. I know what I need to work on for next season. Thanks FRFOC clinicians!"

My special thanks to you and your team for the wonderful job done on the inaugural Front Range Football Officials Camp. After attending the 2013 first annual Front Range Officials Camp held at Fossil Ridge High School, I wanted to take a minute and say thank you to you and your staff for an outstanding two days of training. As a 22-year football official I questioned if this camp would be correct for me. Not only was it correct for me, but in talking with the second-year officials they also felt it was correct for them. The campers were all told that questions would be answered at any time and at no time was a question pushed aside till later. The on-field feedback as soon as you came off the field was wonderful, staff input was short and to the point of helping us all improve. I am already looking forward to attending 2014 and getting the word out to my peers to also attend. Thank you!

"Alan and staff Thanks again for the wealth of knowledge you guys are willing to share and teach. I drove 6 hours to this camp to become a better football official. It was well worth the drive to say the least. Everything from how to watch film to the field work was top notch. I look forward to next year. Also thanks to all the great officials attending as they also were eager to help."

I was going to hold off on this (superstitious maybe?) but wanted you to know that our crew was selected to work the 1A championship game in Wyoming tomorrow. We’ve also been asked (for the first time ever) to work the Wyoming Shrine Bowl game next June. I give a lot of credit to what you and your group presented this past summer at your camp. I’ve used what I was taught at the Referee position for myself, and also tried to get our crew to understand their positions better. Wyoming went to HUDL this year, so we are able to review ‘film’. I keep trying to get them to see the plays not on whether we got it right so much as which position was responsible for viewing the play – and what we can see is that each of us was actually viewing. This has been a learning curve with getting us to put our egos on a shelf at times. I’m also going to encourage all of them to go to the Front Range camp next summer. If they could get the vision from the source, I know it would help all of us!
Thanks again for your help in getting me to my own next level!

There is a great atmosphere at FRFOC I have not experienced at mechanics camps elsewhere. The clinicians are AWESOME. The knowledge and experience of the clinicians are incredible. Plus, the clinicians are just great guys who love football just like you and me. They are willing to give you their time, whether that is by giving you specific feedback on how to improve your game or to just chat football with you. There are also enough clinicians you get tons of individualized treatment and advice. I am trying to get our whole crew from Casper to go. I have been to the FRFOC twice. The first year was great, but the second year was even better. After recently speaking with Allan Bryant, it sounds like this summer's camp is going to be even better (if that is even possible!). If you are a new official -- go, you will learn a ton. If you have been officiating for 5 - 15 years, this camp will help you fine tune your game, give you some new ideas to think about, and/or break bad habits. If you are an old-timer, this camp will definitely get you re-energized and excited about officiating football. Back to the subject of atmosphere -- it is a great environment. Both campers and clinicians are viewed as equals. It is a bunch of guys (and gals) who love football and want to get better at officiating it. I can't say enough about the great collegial atmosphere that exists.

Was an awesome camp that provided a lot of field time to work on my position and keys. Looking forward to attending next year with my crew from South Dakota. Great camp for being its second year and the clinicians were of great help to the new season. See you next year!

Thank you once again for the camp you put together, it was outstanding from beginning to end. The speakers were informative, friendly and encouraging. They opened up our future in the field of officiating and showed us the way to move up the ladder and it is a reality. The subject matter was insightful and practical. It has made me a better, more competent and relaxed football official. The old saying "Teach a man to fish---". Now my eyes are open and WOW what I can see, the view is good really good.
To all the clinicians and especially the UMP's -- "THANK YOU !!!
